The Fiat Platypus utilizes existing mounting points on the underside of your car, so you do not have to drill any holes in your new car. This method of installing the front plate is common and legal in all states that require front license plates. At times when the plate is not needed, it can be removed easily, leaving no trace that it was ever there.The 1/8th inch thick 11 gauge steel bracket is laser cut to ensure a precision fit of your license plate. It is powder coated black with a textured finish. The mount installs in minutes, all you have to do is take two screws out from the under-side of the bumper, put the Platypus in place, and replace the screws. The Platypus rests against the lower bumper on a rubber foot that keeps your car from getting scratched. Once in place, you can use the supplied hardware to attach your license plate to The Platypus. The hardware is stainless steel, and uses an allen key to discourage theft. The hardware provided is the exact right length for your plate.This updated version of the Platypus has a key-hole feature in the backplate that makes it very easy to remove without having to take your plate off. Use the included low-profile wrench to loosen the bolt that attaches the backplate, then slide the backplate off. The plate is balanced to ensure that even if it were to come loose accidentally, it would still hang on so that your plate does not fall off.NOTE: The included hardware is just the right length for a plate, not long enough to also mount a plate frame.
